Quartz Pricing Update

The short version

A new federal safeguard affecting certain imported quartz surface products took effect on August 15, 2026. Covered imports face a 25% duty while the quarterly quota remains available and a 50% duty after it is exhausted. Not every quartz product or country of origin is covered.

AMF Granite is reviewing the impact with our suppliers. We have not finalized a customer price adjustment. Any necessary change will be published here with the amount and effective date before it begins.

What happened?

The Quartz Manufacturing Alliance of America petitioned the federal government for safeguard action regarding increased imports of quartz surface products. Following an investigation, the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that increased imports were a substantial cause of serious injury to the domestic quartz manufacturing industry. President Donald Trump subsequently signed a four-year safeguard proclamation covering certain imported quartz surface products. The safeguard took effect on August 15, 2026. During its first year, covered imports are subject to a 25% duty while the quarterly import quota remains available and a 50% duty after the quota is exhausted. The safeguard does not apply to every imported quartz product or country of origin. The effect on a particular quartz brand or color depends on its source and how it is supplied.

What this may mean for AMF customers

AMF Granite is speaking with our suppliers to determine which quartz brands and colors are affected and how supplier pricing may change. Our goal is to limit the impact on customers rather than pass through the full 25%–50% import duty. However, a measured adjustment to quartz pricing may become necessary once supplier costs are confirmed.
  • We have not yet finalized the amount or effective date of an AMF pricing adjustment.
  • Any adjustment discussed on this page would apply only to quartz.
  • Granite, marble, quartzite, and porcelain pricing is not part of this quartz update.
  • Orders already accepted by AMF will be handled according to their written order terms.
  • Open quotes remain subject to their stated expiration dates, material availability, and AMF’s normal order-acceptance requirements.

Why has AMF not announced an exact percentage?

Different quartz suppliers, brands, colors, and countries of origin may be affected differently. AMF is reviewing this information before determining whether a customer adjustment is necessary and how it should be calculated. If an adjustment is introduced, we will update this page with the exact percentage, effective date, calculation method, and treatment of existing quotes before the change begins.
